According to a report by the Lagos Rapid Response Squad of the Nigerian Police, at least seven passengers have been confirmed injured following a train derailment along the Mangoro axis of Agege area of Lagos State.
Report has it that one of the train coaches was said to have fallen off the rail track while in motion, causing another coach to derail, there by trapping all the passengers on board the train.
Officials of the Railway Corporation along with the Nigerian Police, who rushed to the scene of the accident, engaged in rescue operation to free the tracks on the Mangoro axis in Agege and also help the injured passengers to a near-by hospital for immediate treatment.
The Lagos State Police command’s Rapid Response Squad, confirming the accident a few hours ago, released a statement that reads:
“Derailment of a train at Mangoro axis of Agege. The injured have been taken to the hospital. No fatalities.”
