Megan Thee Stallion has issued a warning to her record label executive, J. Prince after the record executive called her lawsuit against them stupid. The label had stated both the rapper and her mother knew exactly what the contract entailed when she signed it all those years ago.
J. Prince who had reacted strongly to the move taken by Megan Thee Stallion and the allegations levelled against him and the 1501 Certified Entertainment, called out the late rapper’s mother, where he also called her stupid and a liar.
All these back and forth is coming a day after Megan Thee Stallion won her case against the label trying to stop her from dropping her new song on Friday.
The record label had claimed that she cannot release a song without their permission and have already filed an enforcement suit to stop the rapper.
The record executive in his statement said that it’s common for artists to “criticize the deal that raised that artist from the dead”
He said: “Megan seems to be a perfect candidate for self-destruction,” J. Prince revealed that “Any artist in the music industry will testify that a 40% profit share is a great deal.”
Megan had alleged that she would only walk away with 40% of her music income which quickly dwindled after paying off employees. That’s when J. Prince dropped the bomb that set Megan Thee Stallion off. “To end this I give credit to where credit is due. Megan along with her mother, who evidently could read (God rest her soul), negotiated a good deal,” he said.
The “Hot Girl Summer” rapper’s mom, Holly Thomas, passed away in March 2019 after battling a brain tumor.
Hours after J. Prince’s statement, Megan Thee Stallion hit back stating she was “no one’s property” and warning him to “respect my deceased mother.”
Taking to Instagram, she said: “FACTS ARE FACTS AND THE FACTS ARE PUBLIC!!” Telling fans that “extremely pleased” about today’s court victory, Megan Thee Stallion continued, “I will stand up for myself and won’t allow two men to bully me, I am NO ONES PROPERTY.” She also stated that “This has nothing to do with anyone else including JAY-Z,” warning him to “stop deflecting and trying to make this a publicity stunt.”
Megan Thee Stallion then listed out all of her rights in regard to releasing new music before giving J. Prince a stern message telling him never to talk about her late mother. “1501 tried to fight the decision today, the court denied 1501’s request🤷🏽♀️. respect my deceased mother, she’s not here, you don’t know her, you weren’t involved,” she stated.
