Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi of Iwoland has announced that he and his wife Queen Chanel are no longer together, after a few years of marriage.
Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi who is very fond of his wife and never shy to express his love to her, on Sunday 15th December 2019, shocked fans and his followers, when he said his marriage with Queen Chanel has crashed, and that her crown as the Queen of Iwoland has been withdrawn.
The Oba who is rumoured to be the only Oba presently in Nigeria and probably Africa with one wife, and has proved that even with all the traditional duties, and rules plus royalties, an Oba can live with one wife and go about his duties as an Oba. But that has changed now, as a statement released by one Alli Ibraheem, who is the CPS to Oluwo announcing the split, said:
“Ms Chanel Chin is an Ex-Queen of Oluwo
This is to inform the general public most especially friends and associates of the Oluwo of Iwoland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, Telu I, that Ms Chanel Chin is an ex-queen of his majesty.
This information is necessary for the attention of the general public to avoid representation on proxy or accordance of respect attached to the sacred stool of Oluwo to her. For personal irreconcilable differences, Chanel Chin ceased to be his Majesty’s queen. We equally enjoin the public to disregard any business transaction or request with her using the office of his majesty.
We wish her the best in her new journey”, the statement said.
Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi who did not state his reasons for their breakup, have since taken down all the photos of Queen Chanel on his Instagram page, had in Setember 2018 posted this message celebrating Queen Chanel on her birthday. He said:
“Happy Birthday To The Most Beautiful Queen in the whole wide world !!! to my darling wife, A strong woman of virtue, loving, caring, quintessential, beautifully made by the Creator !! May you live in good health and wealth to enjoy the fruit of your labour …. what she endures for me is so enormous, when the whole world did not understand me …. she stood firm and believes in me, lots to say but I say ” Thank you very much for everything my honey bunnie” Queen Chanel” he had said then.
Queen Chanel is an American, who was born and raised in Canada and has a British mother and a Jamaican father.
She came to love Nigerian culture after making friends with some Nigerians in Canada while growing up, and ever since, she has grown to love Nigeria as her home.
The Queen who before the split was the only wife of Oba Abdulrasheed, had some months back, granted an interview where she said she is very sure the Oba will not take another wife, as she is the only wife for him. But knowing the tradition, where the Oba has to take in more than one wife, she said she understands the culture very well, and although she is not expecting Oba Abdulrasheed to take in another woman as wife, should incase it happens, she will have no trouble with that.
Her Instagram page has been set to private mood since the news broke, and although we cannot tell what might have caused their separation despite having a child together, rumour has it that she was moving on to another man. But we are not sure, util we hear from the ex-queen herself.
