A suspected terrorist has been shot dead by police after several people were stabbed at London Bridge.

Armed officers surrounded the man who police says was wearing a hoax explosive device – on the ground at the north end of the bridge and then shot him twice, the UK Evening Standard report.

According to the report by Evening Standard, Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu, of the Met Police, said police were called to the area just before 2 pm after reports of a stabbing and that several people had been injured.

Video footage showed several people tackling a man on the ground on the north side of the bridge as armed police move in.
One passerby is seen walking away clutching what appears to be a knife in his hand before armed officers shoot the suspect on the ground.

Officers were seen scouring the stalls at the famous London market as they directed people away.

A police cordon is in place as far as Lombard Street near Bank and includes major roads including Cannon Street.

Nurse Jackie Benfield, 32, described how she asked to be let off a bus on London Bridge after she heard “five or six” gunshots.
Ms Benfield said she exited the bus and “ran like hell” to escape the shots.

Connor Allen, who was in his van on the bridge when it was evacuated, said: “Everyone just started running, you heard these pops and that was it. We just got out the van and started running.”

One business owner said she had been crossing the bridge to get to her shop on the north side when police officers stopped her.
The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, added: “We heard shooting, it was about five or six shots, I heard five or six quite clearly. All my staff have been evacuated.”
