The world football governing body FIFA on Wednesday 31st July 2019 unveiled the ten shortlisted players for the 2019 Men Best Player Award, as last year winner and Real Madrid midfielder, Luka Modric miss out in the shortlist. But two African players of Salah and Mane made it to the final list.
The 2019 Men Best Player Award shortlist released by FIFA had players from the English Premier League, Italian Seria A, Laliga, Ligue1, and the Dutch League. The nominees for the FIFA Best Player Award for Men are:
Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus)
Frenkie de Jong (Ajax / FC Barcelona)
Matthijs de Ligt (Ajax / Juventus)
Eden Hazard (Chelsea / Real Madrid)
🏴Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)
Sadio Mane (Liverpool)
Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain)
Lionel Messi (FC Barcelona)
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)
The nominees show that the last winner Luka Modric missed out from the list, after a terrible season with his club Real Madrid and country Croatia. But the likes of Ronaldo and Messi who are record winners of the awards will be looking to get it this time, especially Cristiano Ronaldo who had a great season for both country and club, likewise, Virgil van Dijk with Liverpool last season.
The Best awards ceremony will be in Milan on Monday, September 23, 2019.
