Supreme Court Upholds The Election Of Gov Yahaya Bello

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on 21st Thursday, November 2019, presented a certificate of return to the winner of last Saturday’s governorship election in Kogi State, the incumbent, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and his deputy and running mate, Edward Onoja.

The presentation took place at the Professor Mahmoud Yakubu Hall, INEC state headquarters, Lokoja.

Alhaji Yahaya Bello had polled 406, 222 votes to defeat his closest rival, Musa Wada of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 189,704 votes.

The INEC National Commissioner in-charge of the North Central, Mohammed Haruna who presented the certificate to Mr Yahaya Bello said “today marks a new beginning after the election and a call to duty for the governor-elect.

The Kogi State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Prof. James Apam said the presentation was in line with the tradition of the commission, which is always looking forward to.

“We know what we went through to get to this stage and its time to settle down for the job ahead,” he said

Alhaji Yahaya Bello said that the day is the second time he will be receiving a certificate of return as a governor, but will not be the last time he will be receiving a certificate of return from INEC.

He said that he will continue to pursue those laudable projects he pledged during the electioneering campaigns
