Popular Nigerian celebrity and rapper, Folarin Falana who is best known as Falz has reacted to the arrest and continued detention of the owner of online media news medium, Sahara Reporters, Mr Omoyele Sowore by the Department of State Services, (DSS).

Falz who frowned at the way and manner Mr Omoyele Sowore who was the Presidential candidate of the AAC in the last general election was arrested, blamed President Muhammadu Buhari led government for the ridiculously high rate of poverty and unemployment in the land, which is one of the reasons Nigerians led by Sowore are protesting. He cautioned that it is not a time to arrest anyone but to listen to the voices of the masses.
This was his statement he posted on his social media page on Tuesday, 6th August 2019. He said:

“What we are facing is a build up of the several years of neglect of the welfare of our people. Our government’s constant disregard of the loss of lives of many Nigerians. The ridiculous rate of poverty and unemployment that afflicts us. This is not a time to arrest anyone but to listen to the voices of the masses. Organizing a protest march does not in anyway amount to treason. #FreeSowore Immediately!” he said.

The rapper who only last year released a music video to highlight the many problems of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration and Nigerian Politicians which he titled ” This is Nigeria” tapping from the original song done by American rapper, Childish Gambino (THIS IS AMERICA), called the dictatorial approach being adopted by President Muhammadu Buhari against peaceful protesters whose votes brought him to power both in 2015 and 2019, as unnecessary.

The publisher of Sahara Reporters and convener Global Coalition for Security and Democracy in Nigeria was arrested by the police from the Department of State Services (DSS) over a planned revolutionary protest scheduled for Monday, August 5 2019.

The Police had alleged the activist of a plot to force a regime change in the country, and therefore, had to invade his home in a commando style, and arrest him.
