Ghanaians slam President Addo for bogus economic statistics

Ghanaians have slammed their President, President Addo for what they called fake economic statistics in an attempt to fool them in believing that all is well with the economy when the reverse seems to be the case.

The President had on Monday taken to his social media page to claim that his country now has the largest inflow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Africa, ahead of Nigeria and South Africa, even Egypt, and also the largest producer of Gold, also ahead of South Africa, as the country prepares to move beyond foreign Aid.

Ghanaians however are not buying these claims as they dragged President Addo for his statement, as they see it as one of that Government propaganda to fool the citizens into believing that their country is doing well when in actual fact, the citizens are finding it difficult to get jobs and even feed.

President Addo who had on Monday night taken to his social media page to update his countrymen and women about how good the country is doing compared to other African nations, and the plan of his administration to take Ghana from the lists of Aid seeking countries, had put out this post on his Instagram page:

“Ghana is now the largest recipient of foreign direct investment in West Africa. We have some of the world’s largest companies setting up shop in Ghana, and we have, recently, become the largest producer of gold in Africa. #GhanaBeyondAid

The statement by the President seems not to have gone down well with Ghanaians, as they troop into his comment session to remind him about the realities on the ground. They made mention of the high poverty rate, epileptic power supply, high unemployment rate, bad roads and many more.

See some of the reactions from the Ghana Beyond Aid policy…it seems all the talk of Ghana this and that from some Nigerians who have been marketing Ghana and de-marketing Nigeria have all along been a hype as Ghanaians tell their stories themselves. See some of the comments:
