Nigerian Police Force Public Relation Officer, FPRO Mba has assured Nigerians that the Police is fully ready for the general elections, saying at the end of the 2019 elections which is just 19-days away, the Nigeria Police Force will be the Police of the year!

FPRO Mba who said this while appearing live on Radio Nigeria Police Dairy program where he spoke about the preparedness of the Nigerian Police Force for the 2019 general elections, said this among other things.

FPRO Mba while responding to questions on the 2019 general elections said:

“We are very much ready to provide adequate security & safe environment for the 2019 General Election& if the election was today, we are good to go. The IGP has had several meetings with critical stakeholders in the election, the INEC, CSOs. The Police are committed to this course”

“We are aware of our roles and responsibilities as the lead agency in the electioneering process, we are committed, other security & safety agencies are well carried along, we will protect INEC staff, electorates& electoral materials. We will do what is right and support INEC adequately” he said.

On Police neutrality, and being apolitical, he said:

“At the end of the 2019 elections, we are assuring the citizens that the Nigeria Police Force will be the Police of the year. We will do everything humanly, operationally and administratively possible to ensure a hitch-free election. We will be neutral and apolitical”

“If you see something capable of undermining or disrupting the electoral process, before or during the elections, please reach out to the Police. Parents and guidance, warn your children and wards. Let’s not allow unscrupulous elements. Nigerians, don’t sell your vote – FPRO Mba

“We have diagnosed the entire electoral process, we have done security & threat assessment, we know the deployments to make. We are carrying out extensive training of our personnel in collaboration with NGOs, CSOs &other Int’l bodies, we are committed to ensuring a secured environment”

FPRO Mba also spoke about Corps members and their security, saying:
“Corps members are key to the conduct of elections in the country, just like every INEC staff and ad-hoc staff, we will ensure adequate security of our corps members. They should go about their duties without any fear or apprehension”

“There will be adequate supervision of our men during the elections to ensure their actions & conducts remain within the bounds of the law & electoral act. They will observe &respect the fundamental human rights and code of conducts on election duty as stated by Police Service Com” FPRO Mba said.
