Arsenal’s midfielder and retired German world cup winner, Mesut Ozil a few hours ago shared a photo where he was being received by Prince William, and making a presentation of Arsenal’s jersey to the Prince.
From the caption, the two are clearly partnering in a community project to promote peace in the community around the United Kingdom, and Mesut Ozil praised Prince William for his efforts in the project . He said:
“Thank you for your time, HRH Prince William – Duke of Cambridge What an honour meeting you for the “football for peace” project and taking part in the youth leadership season with you #M1Ö#FootballForPeace #London #SeeYouSoon@kensingtonroyal @arsenal”
Mesut Ozil who has retired from the German national team over some controversies surrounding his commitment to the national team, and alleged racism claims, stayed back in London while other of his teammates were off to international duties.
The year 2018 definitely will be that year Germany as a football power house will never forget, as the run of poor results beginning from the Russian world cup shows Mesut Ozil was never the problem as initially thought by fans. The gradual decline of the German football clearly goes beyond individual players, and if the problem or issues are not quickly identified, there could be a bigger mess in the different qualifiers to come from next year.
But Ozil will be more than happy to know that the break is off, as Arsenal enters into their most difficult period of the season, where they usually struggle for results.
The December seasons have not been that favourable to the Gunners, even though they have gone ten games unbeaten, their biggest test is the December-January season. We shall see how they manage under their new coach.
