Corruption is that one name that comes to mind when these words Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is mentioned in Nigeria, and the head of the Commission Ibrahim Magu in order to promote and involve Nigerian youths in the fight, has taken the crusade on the fight against Economic and financial crimes to the camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) where they charged Corps members to take up the gauntlet in the fight against corruption in the country.

Acting Chairman of the Commission, Ibrahim Magu stated this on Wednesday September 5, 2018 at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Issele Ukwu, Delta State when he addressed corp members on the role of youths in curbing corruption. .

Magu, who was represented by Williams Oseghale, Head, Public Affairs Directorate, Benin Zonal Office, stated that the greatest challenge facing Nigeria was corruption and the twin evil of economic and financial crimes. He therefore urged the corp members to shun economic and financial crimes and other forms of criminality in order to realise their dream. .

He also urged the corp members to take ownership of the fight against corruption in Nigeria by joining the the EFCC Anti-Corruption CD Group and by spreading the Anti-Corruption messages in their area of primary assignment. .

“As young people, we need you to partner with us through advocacy and engagement with members of the society on the evil of corruption and its consequences on the larger society” he stated.

According to him, “the Commission will not rest on its oars as it was working conscientiously to exterminate corruption from Nigeria. .

“Let nobody deceive you, there is no short cut to success. Some people who have tried to take the short cut by engaging in illegal activities have been prosecuted with many of them serving various terms in jail. Today, I charge you to take the straight and narrow part, to be disciplined and hardworking.”.

The EFCC is clearly trying to catch them young and the NYSC members are perfectly placed to carry on the preaching against financial crimes in the society. Also, since they will in the next few months be deployed to their various primary place of assignment, they too will continue to spread the words to those in primary and secondary schools.
