Wolves have delivered a message to Manchester City and Pep Guardiola after they played out a 1-1 draw with the English Premier League defending Champions a few minutes ago.

Nuno Santo’s side Wolves at the start of the lunchtime game, and in front of a record crowd for the club, announced their intentions which I feel, Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City players did not prepare for, as Wolves a far much smaller team compared to Manchester City, opted for counter-attacking game plan that caused Pep Guardiola’s side a huge problem.

The game was highly competitive from both sides, as the first half ended goalless after some unbelievable missed opportunities in front of goal and woodwork denying City. But Wolves at the resumption of the second half, had their lead, as Willy Boly stunned the defending Champions through a controversial goal, after he guided home Joao Moutinho’s brilliant cross following a short corner.

The drama and intensity of the game continued as Manchester City scored an equalizer through their defender Aymeric Laporte’s header. It would have been all three points for Manchester City, but woodwork denied Sergio Aguero when his extra-time free-kick hit the crossbar to the delight of Wolves fans who came in their record number.

Manchester City and Pep Guardiola’s team had all the chances, but Wolves were resolute as they held on for a precious point against the best team in the land and defending Champions. The result also shows clearly that all the talk by Guardiola that he has a plan for teams who might want to defend against them are nothing but just a mere speech. He has to figure out a way as urgent as possible, as the Wolves game is just one of many to come.

Pep Guardiola reacting to how Wolves played and the result at the end of the game, said:
“We created a lot of chances to win the game but we missed simple passes throughout the game.”

“We always play at the same level, people will say how difficult it is to play good teams but we tried and had many chances. We will improve because defensively today we were not solid like we normally are”

“We knew how strong Wolves were but the reaction from the team was good. It is always complicated but we created a lot of chances so that’s why it is good” He said.

Another of Manchester City player that reacted to the result was Kyle Walker. He said:

“We had enough chances but we need to be a little bit more ruthless in net, but as defenders we need to take more responsibilities for free-kicks”

“I think it’s going to be very difficult to come here, a lot of teams are going to drop points here… It’s hard for the referees to see everything. It was a goal that was given but we worked hard to get the equaliser in the end.”
