A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress identified as Bunmi Ojo has been reported to have been shot dead in Ekiti State by unknown gunmen.
The late Bunmi Ojo was said to have been killed at a football viewing centre along Adeyinka Adebayo Area, Ekiti State University Road, where before his death, he was seeing a football game between Manchester United and Leicester City on Friday night when he was shot dead at close range by the gunmen.
He was the Federal Commissioner representing Ekiti on the board of Federal Character Commission (FCC),and was said to have been shot dead alongside two of his friends.
The late Ojo worked with the former Governor of Ekiti State, and the immediate past Deputy National Chairman (South), APC Segun Oni and served as his Personal Assistant during his term as governor.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the morgue of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti Command, DSP Caleb Ikechukwu, who neither confirmed nor denied the incident, promised to address newsmen, as soon as full detail about the crime reached the command.
As expected, both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been trading words and accusation as to who was responsible. But the Police have promised to investigate the death and bring those behind it to justice.
