English Premier League side, Chelsea have announced the signing of former Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Robert Green, as a backup goalkeeper for the new season.
According to Chelsea, Robert Green who is a former Leads United and England National team goalkeeper will be a third choice keeper for the team, becoming a backup Thibaut Courtois and Willy Caballero.
While speaking to Chelsea’s club website, the Englishman who signed a one-year contract with the former Premier League Champions, said he is delighted to be joining one of the best clubs in the world, saying:

‘It has been a whirlwind 24 hours. You are thinking about your career and where you want to go and then you get a phone call like this, and it is a short conversation.
‘It has been a pretty dramatic time for me and I can’t wait to get started. I am absolutely delighted and it is a thrill and an honour to be here.’
Chelsea has been linked with former goalkeeper Cech as they are still unsure whether or not Thibaut Courtois will still be at the club next season.
The coming of Robert Green could be a backup for Caballero who could assume the role of the first-choice goalkeeper if Thibaut Courtois decides to leave the London club for Real Madrid.
Since missing out in the signing of Alisson Becker to Liverpool, Chelsea are desperately doing all they can to see how they can manage the situation at the back, pending when they resolve contract issues with the FIFA world cup best goalkeeper.
