The Governor Of Benue State, Governor Samuel Ortom in a new twist to events of last 24-hours, has reaffirmed his membership of the All Progressive Congress after a meeting with party Chairman Adams Oshiomole in Abuja.
The Governor who was earlier spotted at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja today barely 24-hours after his meeting with some Governors and members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ilorin yesterday, met with the National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, where he said he never at any time decamped from the party.
Governor Ortom who sent shock waves across his state over the talk of decamping from the APC while swearing in some commissioners in Makurdi said he came for consultation with the party leadership, so as to find a way to resolve the internal crisis presently befalling the Benue Chapter of the party.
Comrade Adams Oshiomole who had earlier refuted the news going around on the Governor decamping from the APC said he was happy to receive the Governor and they will try and look for a lasting solution to their family problem.
He assured the press that APC as a party is not in crisis.
He had earlier said this on Ortom decamping:
“I know that Gov Ortom is a very senior member of the party and he has said so repeatedly in print and has said to me one on one that he will not leave the APC unless he was pushed out.
“Since I assumed the chairmanship of this party along with my colleagues in the NWC, I know of a fact, that we have not shut out any governor and certainly not Gov Ortom.
“And in these days of social media, I will not be responding on the basis of rumor and unverified reports,” Oshiomole said.
