Popular Nigerian Comedian Ali Baba hits again, as he calls the incident which happened at the National Assembly yesterday, where thugs invaded the chamber and charted away with the symbol of authority without any form of challenge, saying that has been the way the Nigerian system condoles every criminality in the country from time immemorial.
Ali Baba or Mr Akpobomerere without a doubt has spoken the minds of millions of Nigerians as to how our leaders who are supposed to lead by example treats serious security issues with every form of levity and perpetrators escaped Scott free or better still empty themselves into the thin air without a trace. The comedian just like in his previous outburst but intelligently outlined, has again highlighted some series of events that the Nigerian government has failed over the years to nip in the bud while saying this recent one will go same way just like the others. He said:
With CCTV… the pictures of these guys should be on all available media spaces in this country by now. Their biodata should have been matched. The get away vehicle should have been tracked. Their criminal record fetched from a system. Thumb prints on the mace collected and documented. The footage of their arrival and departure from the National Assembly should by now be trending and their names on every strategic security meeting and public discussions. BUT NO. ABSOLUTELY NOT. That will mean their godfathers will be revealed. That will mean there can not be a repeat. That will mean the security of the National Assembly will be impenetrable. That will also mean that these guys thumbprints eill match the same ones that snatched ballot boxes during key elections in the states the godfather had interests. That will mean the thumbprints matching some voided ballot paper of many cancelled elections. That will mean stripping the powers that be some guerrilla powers. That will make nonsense of what democracy means to them. Just think about it.
Isnt this what happens when herdsmen attack a whole village, kill, burn down houses and pillage a community and nothing happens? Isnt this what happened with not knowing who left bags of money at an airport and no CCTV caught him? And nothing was heard of the person behind the imported container load of arms intercepted by customs? Or the cargo plane that was abandoned at the MMInternational airport in Lagos? Isn’t this like what Orubebe did.. trying to stall the proceedings of a national election backed by the constitution? Did anything happen to him? Exactly!!!
As long as people get away with these horrible things that crap on our democracy and constitution, the description of Trump, sticks. We let this happen. We bring this on ourselves. We encourage corruption. We give wings to thugs. We promote armed banditry. We permit electoral fraud. We aid corrupt people into office. We empower criminals. We celebrate thieves. We ignore the things that can make our country good. We dont create jobs and cry there is unemployment. We are our own problems.
