FEC approves N5.2bn for road linking Sokoto and Zamfara

Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the award of a N5.2 billion contract for the construction of a road linking Sokoto and Zamfara states in North-West Nigeria.

The Minister of State for Power, Works and Housing, Suleiman Hassan revealed this to State House Correspondents, soon after Wednesday’s FEC meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said: “This afternoon, we (FEC) approved the award of contract for the construction of Kajiji, Jabo, Guraye, and Takwaco road in Sokoto state.

“This is a 28.75 kilometre road joining Sokoto and Zamfara states. It is in a very good agricultural zone. It will able to ferry agricultural goods and human traffic between these two states and onto the neighbouring countries of Niger, and Benin Republic.

“The contract is awarded to Messers Sky Technical and Construction Company limited at the cost of N5.202billion.”

The Minister said the Nigerian government under President Muhammadu Buhari, was focused on delivering more dividends of democracy to citizens of the country.

This approval is one out of many that have been approved and to be approved by the Presidency, as the Federal Government through the ministry of Works, power and housing intensify road construction and rehabilitation across the country.

Aside the roads, there is also the issue of rail transportation system that the Presidency has in the last few weeks, working and trying so hard to make sure that states with the country are llinked up to other states via the rail system.

The rail system that has been completed so far is that of Abuja-Kaduna rail that is already functional as passengers are already enjoying the new transport system.

The project was kick-started under former president Good luck Ebele jonathn, and was completed by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

Other roads have been approved whole some are still under consideration by the Ministry i. Charge.
