PHOTO: See How Social Media Tears Into English Ref. Michael Oliver For Awarding A Controversial Penalty

This season’s UEFA Champions League without a doubt has been one of the best we have ever seen for over a decade now and much fun is expected as we await the Semi-Finals fixtures. The games in the quarter-finals stages were nothing but total football, and fans of the beautiful game around the world cannot stop but keep on reminiscing about the games over and over again. From the magical comeback by AS Roma knocking out Barcelona, and the free-scoring and pacy Liverpool side, who embarrassed Pep and his beautiful style of play to get a Semi-final place and the Real Madrid and Juventus game, it was all drama till the end.

The game between Juventus and Real Madrid was heading towards that historic end and in fact, it did, as Juventus overturned three goals deficit to score three goals as Real Madrid were on the verge of crashing out of this year’s champions league before the last-minute controversial penalty from referee Michael Oliver saved Ronaldo and teammates from embarrassing defeat. It was a good game up until that moment when the penalty was awarded, and millions of fans world over would not have given that penalty if given the chance, as the game was just too entertaining to end in such a horrible manner, and I am sure Michael Oliver will be having a second thought on that decision.

The Italian side, Juventus showed they are one of Europe best and were ready to go all the way with the defending champions, only to have their dream of a European glory cut short by referee’s decision. See some of the reactions on social media.

@pesso147:English referees are a huge shame to the game of football. Micheal Oliver is such a disgrace. That wasn’t a penalty but he just had to ruin the whole thing. A disgrace is what his is. What a shame, buckling under the pressure. No wonder there aren’t English refs at the World Cup

@WalterTactic: Uefa was never going to let Madrid go out, No way Micheal Oliver makes that decision in the Premier League, he’s clearly been paid off.

@ralpha060461: Micheal Oliver might wake up with a horses head beside him tomorrow morning ?

@mugalujeremihWhen the match ended the Commentator; “I guess Micheal Oliver is not planning a holiday any time soon in Turin”.Hahaaa#RMAJUV

@iam__NORIS: another masterclass from an English referee in the person of Micheal Oliver.. further buttresses the reason why no English ref will be officiating in Russia 2018.

Corrupt fucks

@CriticalFirmino:Was never ever a pen, Micheal Oliver ALWAYS wants to be the centre of attention, this is why no English referee is going to the world cup but that penalty by Harry Kane was unbelievable.

@TheTurin27: Imagine sending off Buffon for complaining. Micheal Oliver crumbled ????

@officialdaddymo: Micheal Oliver is on course to become Real Madrid’s player of the season after his impressive display against Juventus

@Ayourb: Even the English commentator in the studio agrees the ref is a clown who always baulk under pressure to favour the home team.  Micheal Oliver got this wrong everyday

@Twesije: Perhaps Micheal Oliver was tired & just wanted to go home & have a glass of wine & watch Naruto. But you didn’t think about that, did you? You only think about yourself

@ffslluke: Micheal Oliver looks like the weird kid at school who drank monster energy drinks and had a No Fear bag and matching snapback and once got a dodgy haircut to try and fit in.

@TaylorReece129: Always said Micheal Oliver is a terrible referee and yet again tonight proves that. Making the game about him again at the end of one of the most important games of the season. Disgraceful refereeing no wonder why no English referees are at the World Cup. I stand with Buffon.
