61 suspected political thugs have been arrested by men of the Kano State Police Command, Police authorities said in a statement.
According to the statement, the 61 suspected political thugs arrested were accused of being thugs or political gangs during campaign meetings.
The Commissioner of Police Mamman Dauda stated this in a statement issued by her spokesman in the state, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on Thursday, saying that they were arrested on Wednesday.
The youths were arrested at the Sani Abacha Stadium during a political rally.
He added that among the items seized from them were 33 knives, eight swords, four scissors, and 117 pieces of marijuana.
“Party leaders and candidates have promised to cooperate with the police and other security forces to conduct elections in peace,” according to the statement.
