Popular Hollywood actor, producer and writer, Tyler Perry has given an update to the second autopsy his family conducted, and the result confirmed that his nephew took his own life, and not murdered in prison as initially speculated.
Tyler Perry who took to his social media page on Friday nigh,t said they got the autopsy results back from Dr Michael Baden, the world-renowned pathologist he hired to look into 26-year-old Gavin Porter’s death in a Louisiana prison.
Perry gave an update on the autopsy result, saying it shows 98 percent that there was no foul play in Porter’s death.
“I spoke with Dr Michael Baden today after he finished the autopsy on my nephew. I was relieved to hear that he is 98% sure that there was no foul play in his death, just as Sheriff Gates stated,” he said.
The result confirmed what prison officials told the Perry family that his nephew hanged himself using bedsheets while in solitary confinement. The family was not convinced, which is why Tyler hired Baden to conduct an independent 2nd autopsy.
“The answers don’t take away grief, but it surely gives room for grieving to take its course,” he added.
Porter was doing 20 years for manslaughter after killing his father — in front of his mother, who is Tyler’s sister. He was placed in solitary after getting into a fight last weekend. He was found dead Tuesday night.
Tyler told us he had hoped to give his nephew a second chance in life by hiring him at his studio once he completed his sentence.
Tyler Perry had said this a few days ago, before the autopsy result came in on Friday. He said this:
“A few years ago my nephew committed a heinous crime – he shot his biological father and killed him just feet away from my sister over a senseless argument. The murder shook our entire family to its core.
Despite his horrible act, before he went to prison I went to see him in the local jail. I assured him that we all still loved him, but it was important to all of us, including his mother, that he was punished for this horrific crime that he had committed. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Call me naive, but it was my hope that after serving his time, really reflecting, showing much remorse, and asking God for forgiveness, that he would have been able to come work for me. Where he would join all the other former inmates that work for me and turn his life around, just as they have. But that day will never come.
Three days ago, I got the horrible news that he allegedly committed suicide in prison. I say allegedly because, unfortunately, our criminal justice system and prisons have been notorious for cover ups and or getting it wrong.
With that in mind I have hired Dr. Michael Baden to do a second autopsy, and we are expecting the results soon.
I want to be clear that we are not a family of conspiracy theorists, and we want to believe that there was no foul play, just as the sheriff has stated publicly.
