Miss Jamaica Toni-Ann Singh has been crowned as the Miss World for 2019, as she becomes yet another black beauty to be crowned a pageant Queen this year alone.
The 23-year-old Toni-Ann was crowned as Miss World 2019 at the 69th edition of the event which held on Saturday 14th December 2019, at Excel in London, England.
She was crowned by her predecessor Miss World 2018 Vanessa Ponce from Mexico in an epic moment on the stage. Ophely Mezino of France and Suman Rao of India were the first and second runners up of the beauty pageant respectively, Miss Nigeria also made the top five finalist.
The top five contestants participated in the final question-and-answer round. British broadcaster Piers Morgan appeared as the head judge at the event and asked the finalists to answer the questions.
The Saturday global event was the 69th edition, and it witnessed contest by contestants from 120 countries competing for the crown. The opening ceremony of Miss World 2019 was held in London on November 20. After competing in several fast-track events, 10 were selected for the finals.
The new Miss World studied psychology and women studies at FSU and has also taken a year off from medical school education, just for the pageant.
This is a great achievements for all the coloured skin girls around the world, especially young African girls that the colour of your skin doesn’t matter…you can be anything, just like these African Queens!
