British singer Seal has slammed Katy Perry on the copy right infringement lawsuit against her on her song “Dark Horse” as he tells her there is a clear difference between stealing and borrowing.
The ‘Kiss from a Rose’ star, as reported by TMZ a few hours ago, says being influenced by other artists is fine, but “ya can’t just jack someone else’s beats!!!”
The report said Seal was at LAX Friday when he weighed in on the Katy Perry saga, where she was ordered to cough up $550,000 for ripping off another musician’s work.
This Seal reacted to by saying “there’s a fine line between being inspired by a tune and straight up stealing it” he said.
Seal’s reaction comes after Katy lost a huge lawsuit where the jury decided she and her codefendants improperly copied Christian rapper Flame’s song, “Joyful Noise,” for her smash hit, “Dark Horse.”
Seal rattles off a list of artists who influenced his music when he was breaking into the industry, but he says he never went so far as to steal them.
The singer is himself on a musical tour, but we are sure this could end up becoming a face off between Katy Perry and Seal…we are watching….
