The parents of rapper Nipsey Hussle break their silence, as they open up to Los Angeles Times (LAT) on the death of their son, first, since the tragic incident a few days back.

This interview is coming, as family and friends including over 8,000 fans are all getting set for the memorial at the Staples Centre.

According to the report by The Blast, rapper’s mom and dad, along with his longtime love Lauren London, sat down with LAT to recall his early years and untimely passing.

Angelique Smith says her son has always recognized his own potential, saying, “He has always known.” She wants fans to remember Nipsey “as a humble, spirited, respectful man who had, since his childhood, had an extraordinary and unlimited intellectual capacity.”

Nipsey’s father, Dawit Asghedom, says their son was taken too soon but believe it is only because he completed what God put him on this Earth to do.

“It was like he was sent by God to give some love to bring us together because that’s what his lyrics were saying, always,” he explained. “He’s not shy to tell the truth even though it might not look good. He wasn’t scared of anything. [God] sent him to send a message.”

We all have a plan, but God has his own plan,” Dawit added. “So he had completed what he needed to be doing and he did it early so [God] probably want to take him early too.”

London, the late rapper’s girlfriend and baby mama, also had some words to share about Nipsey.

“I’m going to keep my head high and always represent for my king to the fullest,” London told the paper. “He loved his kids. He was a family man. His family came first.”

This isn’t the first time London has spoken out about the slain rapper. Days after his death, she took to social media with a heartbreaking message saying she’s “completely lost.”

His service will be held Thursday at Staples Center and be followed by a procession through the streets of Los Angeles.
