Melete Update: Troops neutralized 76 Boko Haram terrorists

Melete Update: The Nigerian Army has given an update on Melete, saying about 76 Boko Haram Terrorists have been neutralized in their engagement with the Nigerian Army in Melete, northern region of Borno State.

This news is coming days after the Nigerian Army broke the news that troops of 157 Battalion were engaging the Boko Haram Terrorists in a heavy gun battle in Melete, Borno State.

In a statement released a few hours ago, the Nigerian Army on the Melete Update said:
the Boko Haram Terrorists made an attempt to overrun the position of the troops of 157 Battalion but were overpowered by the superior fire power of the Nigerian Army, leading to a heavy casualty on the terrorists, as they were crushed by the gallant troops.

The Nigeria Army in their statement, announced the unfortunate death of about 7 soldiers who lost their lives in the process and 16 wounded and are receiving treatment in the hospital. But in all, the troops showed gallantry and they overpowered the dreaded Boko Haram members.

The statement by the Nigerian Army reads:

Update on BHT Attack in Metele near Kangarwa. Gallant troops of 157 Battalion decisively engaged BHTs who attempted to overrun their Position in Metele near Kangarwa Borno State. The sustained superior firepower of the troops led to the neutralization of 76 BHTs.

Unfortunately, the NA lost 7 soldiers while 16 were wounded in action. The #COAS Lt Gen TY Buratai has commiserated with the families of the deceased and directed that the wounded be given adequate medical attention. Details later.
