The Real Housewives of Orange County star Heather Dubrow has responded to rumors that her husband, Dr. Terry Dubrow, is gay.
The reality TV star, 56, Heather Dubrow addressed the ‘stupid’ speculation on Wednesday’s episode of iHeartRadio’s ‘Between Us’ podcast.
‘It’s just so stupid… Why would we hide that? Why would we live a lie like that? It would be the most hypocritical, and what would we be showing our kids?’ she said.
Heather and the Botched star, 67, got married in June 1999 and share four children together: twins Max and Nick, 22, Kat, 19, and Ace, 15. All of their children are members of the LGBTQ+ community, with the exception of Nick.
The plastic surgeon also addressed the rumors surrounding his sexuality on the podcast.
‘First of all, if I’m gay in this long-term relationship, please feel bad for me because I’m not living my true life. I’m having a life of dissatisfaction,’ he joked.
He added, ‘First of all, if I were gay, I’d be really happy about it.’
‘By the way, I would be a lot wealthier because I would have married a guy who was very, very successful right away, and we don’t spend money the way women spend money.’
Both Terry and Heather Dubrow are staunch LGBTQ+ supporters, and their work has often been featured on The Real Housewives of Orange County.
In 2023, Terry spoke about supporting his transgender child Ace.
Their daughter Max previously revealed she is bisexual while their other daughter Kat came out as lesbian.
Terry revealed that he and Heather approached Ace’s coming out as trans in the same way. ‘Don’t judge, listen. Don’t talk,’ he shared in an interview with E! News.
He added it was important for them to have a ‘warm home environment that’s accepting and loving and supportive.’
‘You’ve got to be very careful because there’s a lot of hate out there,’ he added.
‘So you have to be very careful to envelop them in love and support.’
‘We hope that the message that we put out with our family helps those who are struggling in families that aren’t so supportive,’ he explained, ‘and particularly in parts of the country where there’s a lot of pushback on living a person’s real life.’
Max previously shared how her famous mom makes it a point to foster an inclusive environment at home.
‘Even if she doesn’t understand something, my mom tries very hard,’ she told People in 2022, ‘and she learns and teaches herself and she grows with us.’
Kat added, ‘She’s asked me trillions of questions that really show she cares. She’s asked me about my pronouns. It’s really easy to talk to her. It’s not like I have to build up courage if I have something to tell her.’
Earlier this month, the couple celebrated nearly three decades together.
They shared a joint social media post, dancing in matching PJs together.
‘Happy Anniversary Honyi! I love you @drdubrow,’ Heather wrote on Instagram. ’29 years ?!?!! Seems like yesterday ❤️.’
Terry is a top-flight plastic surgeon famous to TV viewers thanks to Botched, while Heather is known for starring on The Real Housewives Of Orange County.
In 2023, Heather shared a loving post to her husband after he suffered a mini stroke.
The star saved Terry’s life when she urged him to get medical care when he began slurring his speech at dinner – with doctors later finding the surgeon had suffered a TIA or transient ischemic attack.
TIA involves a temporary lack of blood flow to the brain, which causes momentary dizziness, confusion, tingling, and numbness in the arms.
Heather shared a photo of the pair and wrote: ‘Appreciation post for my love @drdubrow.
‘Thank god you’re healthy and strong ! I love you Honyi.’
