Ariana Grande stepped out in a festive red coat while heading to a screening of Wicked: For Good in New York City on Wednesday, Daily Mail reports.
The actress, 32, bundled up in the long oversized coat as she made her way to an AMC Theater, a day after Megyn Kelly made shocking claims about her weight.
Beneath, Ariana Grande sported a black top and coordinating pants, finishing the outfit with black high-heeled boots, according to the report by Daily Mail.
Her hair was slicked back into a glamorous updo, complemented by subtle makeup that highlighted her features.
The Oscar-nominated singer — who plays Glinda in the Wicked films — graciously waved to fans outside the theater.
The outing comes after Kelly called out Ariana Granda for her ‘anorexic’ appearance while criticizing her relationship with Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo in a scathing takedown of celebrity culture
Kelly, on her latest podcast episode, condemned the entertainment industry and noted Ariana Grande and Erivo as two examples of the increasingly overwhelming takeover of celebrities becoming ‘dangerously thin.’
‘This industry is not to be admired, certainly not emulated,’ Kelly said.
The podcaster appeared alongside novelist Andrew Klavan to discuss current trends, and how Kelly withdrew her podcast from consideration for a Golden Globe.
Kelly’s rant berating the idolization of celebrities attacked Grande and Erivo, who both starred in Hollywood blockbuster Wicked, for their dramatic weight loss over the movies filming and press tour.
‘Take a look at Ariana Grande right now, of the music industry and now also as an actress starring in Wicked. Let’s check in on how Ariana, who was raised on television, on Nickelodeon… is doing,’ Kelly began.
‘She is very clearly anorexic. If she’s 90 pounds, it’s a lot. She looks like you could snap her in two with your fingers.’
Kelly went on to comment on social media observations about the Wicked co-star’s seemingly close relationship during interviews and their press tour.
‘And [Grande’s] having some sort of weird, I don’t know what it is… sexual? I don’t know, relationship with a they/them, her co-star Cynthia Erivo who also looks dangerously thin,’ she continued.
Erivo has been dating Lena Waithe since 2022 and Grande’s relationship with another Wicked actor, Ethan Slater, was made public in 2023.
But Kelly’s comments on the Wicked stars’ bodies and weight loss are echoed across social media, as many users expressed deep concern for both stars after their dramatic change in appearance since they were initially cast in Wicked.
As videos and pictures swirled online, critics called to ‘release the Wicked files,’ as Grande, Erivo and Michelle Yeoh all appeared to have lost a significant amount of weight.
‘Cynthia looked strong before,’ one commenter said.
‘Ariana has always been a small and petite girl, BUT THIS IS NOT NORMAL,’ another stressed.
‘Michelle Yeoh’s scares me the most because this isn’t even a crazy huge role for her,’ one social media user wrote on TikTok.
‘The fact that people are trying to normalize how skeletal they look is alarming,’ another comment read.
‘One is odd, two is a coincidence, three is a pattern,’ one pointed out.
Grande has repeatedly shut down people commenting on her weight and appearance, and even got emotional discussing the ‘overwhelming’ pressure that women face.
As she teared up while speaking to a French reporter on December 5, the star said: ‘I’ve heard every version of it – of what’s wrong with me. And then you fix it, and then it’s wrong for different reasons.
‘I think in today’s society, there is a comfortability that we shouldn’t have at all — commenting on others’ looks, appearance, what they think is going on behind the scenes or health or how they present themselves.
‘It’s not invited, so I don’t leave space for it anymore.’
Last year while addressing similar concerns, Grande credited her change in appearance to a shift in focus on a healthier way of living.
She claimed in a TikTok video that ‘the body you’ve been comparing my current body to was the unhealthiest version of my body.’
‘I was on a lot of antidepressants and drinking on them and eating poorly and at the lowest point in my life when I looked the way you consider my ”healthy.” But in fact, that wasn’t my ”healthy.” Healthy can look different.’
