Katy Perry finally went Instagram official with her boyfriend Justin Trudeau after months of fevered public attention on their relationship.
The former Canadian Prime Minister, 53, reposted a photo of him and the 41-year-old pop star posing with former Japanese prime minister Fumio Kishida and his wife Yuko Kishida on Thursday.
Their meet-up took place earlier this week, with Trudeau and Perry already in Japan for her Lifetimes Tour show, though Katy Perry quickly faced backlash for the ‘inappropriate’ mini skirt she wore to what fans viewed as a diplomatic-style meeting.
However she has now brushed off the blowback and zeroed in her focus on the romantic aspect of her latest trip to Japan.
She shared a selfie Saturday morning of her and Trudeau cuddling up to one another as they strolled through a park together amid the changing autumn colors.
The photo was part of an album that also featured a black and white video of Perry trying uni for the first time as Trudeau looked proudly on beside her.
Meanwhile Trudeau similarly shrugged off the backlash to his and Perry’s photo with the Kishidas, re-sharing the image from Kishida’s X account, writing: ‘Great to see you @kishida230. Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko.’
‘Thank you, Fumio, for your friendship and your continued commitment to both the international rules-based order and to a better future for everyone.’
Their trip marks the latest international outing for the duo, who first sparked dating rumors in July following Perry’s split from ex-fiancé Orlando Bloom, 48.
The firework hitmaker was slammed for the outfit she wore to the meeting, which consisted of an olive mini skirt, a matching cropped jacket, and a black top underneath.
The look was completed with sheer black tights and black boots.
‘Miniskirt is definitely not appropriate for that kind of event,’ one fan wrote on Instagram.
‘Didn’t they tell her how to dress for this occasion?’ another wondered.
‘Her outfit looks absolutely inappropriate for this type of diplomatic engagement.’
‘That’s what she wore?’ another fan asked.
‘Can she get a fashion advisor?! Short skirt and the boots [hides face emoji].’
Sharing an update to his Instagram, former Japanese prime minister Kishida and his wife Yuko, joined Katy and Justin for a photo by the Christmas tree.
He wrote: ‘Former Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau came to Japan with his partner Katy Perry and had lunch with us.’
‘During my time as Prime Minister, I met Prime Ministers many times, and when I visited Canada, we worked together to strengthen bilateral relations, including formulating the “Nikka Action Plan”.
Fumio added: ‘I am glad that we are continuing this friendship.’
Katy Perry and Justin were spotted strolling through Asakusa, one of Tokyo’s most historic and tourist-loved districts, earlier in the day.
They later slipped into Asakusa Sumo Stable ANNEX, a restaurant known for its live sumo wrestling matches performed inside an actual ring.
The pair reportedly enjoyed traditional Japanese dishes while watching the athletes in action.
After weeks of speculation, they made their official debut as a couple in September in Paris, stepping out hand-in-hand during a romantic evening in the French capital.
A source previously told People that Katy Perry and Trudeau have been ‘making plans for the holidays’ and that the pop star is navigating a whirlwind schedule as she prepares to wrap up her Lifetimes Tour.
‘Without exaggeration, this year has been a whirlwind for her. She hasn’t even had time to really think about her life after the tour,’ the insider shared.
Though her romance with Trudeau has been an exciting new chapter, the source emphasized that Perry remains focused on her five-year-old daughter Daisy Dove, whom she shares with Bloom.
‘She’s a single mom now and a lot of that is going to come into focus next year,’ they added.
The insider also revealed that Perry is ‘excited’ by Trudeau, noting she is ‘having a lot of fun’ despite being surprised by how quickly she connected with someone new after the end of her long-term relationship with Bloom.

On Trudeau’s side, the relationship appears to have brought a new sense of ease.
