SAG Awards Nominations Event Cancelled Over Wldfires

The SAG Awards have announced they have cancelled their in-person nominations event on Wednesday as wildfires continues to spread in Los Angeles.

The Screen Actors Guild won’t be holding their usual live-in person announcement, due to be streamed live on Netflix, with the nominees instead annouced via press release on on the SAG Awards website.

‘In an abundance of caution for the safety of our presenters, guests, and staff, the live in-person 31st Annual SAG Awards nominations announcement has been cancelled due to the wildfires and adverse wind conditions in Los Angeles,’ read a statement sent late on Tuesday night from SAG Awards organizers.

‘Nominees will be unveiled tomorrow at 7:30am PT via press release and the SAG Awards website.’

‘We look forward to celebrating these incredible actors and their work at the SAG Awards ceremony on February 23. In the meantime, we urge everyone to stay safe, and thank you for your continued support.’

SAG Award nominated actress Joey King and Golden Globe Nominated actor Cooper Koch were originally set to announce the nominations at the live event.

The 31st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will stream live globally on Netflix Sunday, February 23 from the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall.

LA has been hit with severe Santa Ana winds exceeding 100mph in some areas, which resulted in the raging wildfire that have forced 30K residents to evacuate.

Firefighters battling the blaze in Pacific Palisades warned they were running out of water and supplies, as evacuation warnings spread to Malibu and Calabasas.

Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency and FEMA approved a Fire Management Assistance Grant to provide critical resources for fire suppression efforts.

Residents were warned the worst is still yet to come as the raging wildfire burns through more than 2,900 acres of Los Angeles land at an extraordinary rate.

At least 30,000 residents are now under mandatory evacuation orders with more still warned they should be prepared to leave, as new brush fires divert resources to Pasadena and Altadena near Eaton Canyon.

Pacific Palisades, where houses have already been reduced to rubble, is a celebrity enclave home to Chris Pratt, Reese Witherspoon and Miles Teller among other Hollywood A-listers.

Even more celebrities call Calabasas and Pasadena home, including the Kardashians.

Among the local celebrities being evacuated due to the devastation on Tuesday included James Woods, Eugene Levy, Steve Guttenberg, Chet Hanks, as well as Spencer and Heidi Pratt.

Spencer and Heidi have tragically lost their home in the massive wildfire sweeping through Los Angeles’ Pacific Palisades neighborhood.

Pratt, 41, was captured in photos as he watched the rapidly advancing fire move toward his home, which is in an area featuring many celebrity estates that are also at risk of burning.

Sources told TMZ that Spencer and Heidi’s home was completely destroyed after catching fire on Tuesday.

Luckily, the couple and their two sons were able to safely evacuate earlier in the day before the flames got too close.

However, they are said to be distraught by the staggering loss.

Spencer documented firefighters’ attempts to contain the blaze with a video posted to his Instagram stories showing an airplane dropping water on a nearby mountain.
