Nigerian popular cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, is accusing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Nigeria Police Force, and the Immigration of violating his fundamental human rights, as he claimed he had been harassed and assaulted by these government agencies.
Bobrisky who had earlier traced the genesis of his problems with these government agencies to receiving an award for Best Dressed Female at actress Eniola Ajao’s Beast of Two Worlds (Ajakaju) movie premiere in March 2024an event, stated that it is high time the international community get to know about the trademark of violation of freedom and rights by these agencies.
Taking to his official social media handle on Saturday 16th November 2024, Bobrisky posting a copy of a court filing, attacked the Police and the Nigeria anti-graft agency for violating his fundamental human right, saying:
“Notwithstanding the earlier filing of this fundamental rights matter, the EFFCC still violently assaulted and harassed me and pulled me out of a plane set for takeoff.
The EFCC and other security agencies in Nigeria are violators of human rights and it is high time the world and the international community get to know about their trademark of violation of freedom and rights.
Without any order of the court the minister of interior ordered the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Nigerian Police to arrest and detain me which led to my worsening illness, then again, EFCC arrested and took me from their Lagos office to Abuja notwithstanding the pendency of this suit. It is a shame that the EFCC does not respect the court, and neither does any security agencies they act above the law which they claim to protect and implement,” he said.
This latest allegation from Bobrisky, is coming just a day after he took to his facebook to speak on his many travail.
Bobrisky noted that he would not have had to deal with so many problems if he had not won the award, which came with one million naira.
He added that he would henceforth decline any award primarily designed for women.
He wrote, “My problem started from when I collected the best dressed female with a 1 million prize. For my life if I see an award for best dressed female I will disappear from that location ASAP.”
