Supermodel Heidi Klum has opened up about the racism she experienced during her marriage to singer Seal, who she shares three children with, Daily Mail reports.
According to the report by Daily Mail, in a recent interview with The Times, Heidi Klum touched briefly on her romance with the 61-year-old hitmaker and said: ‘I discovered racism both ways: some wanted him to be with a woman of color, others for me to be with a white man.
‘Then we had children and people complained I didn’t do my children’s hair correctly. But we didn’t want to be some perfect poster for integration, we just wanted a family.’
Heidi Klum, 51, started dating Seal in 2004 while she was pregnant with her first child Leni, who she conceived during her romance with Italian businessman Flavio Briatore.
Seal was present for Leni’s birth, and officially adopted her in December 2009. He and Heidi Klum married in May 2005, but sadly separated in January 2012, with their divorce finalized in October 2014.
The former couple share three other children together; Henry, 18, Johan, 17, and 14-year-old Lou, and Klum is now married to Tokio Hotel guitarist Tom Kaulitz.
In the same interview, Heidi Klum admitted that she’s received abuse from online trolls over the 16-year-age gap between her and Kaulitz, 35.
The mother-of-four said she felt forced to turn off her Instagram comments after being inundated with cruel messages about their age difference.
But the German beauty, who married Kaulitz in 2019, insisted she doesn’t let the comments get to her.
‘I have a tough skin. I can cut out the noise when I go home, close the door and have a barbecue with the kids,’ Klum said.
She also revealed that she dislikes the term ‘toy boy’, referring to the younger male partner of an older woman, because she doesn’t think their age difference matters.
In fact, the America’s Got Talent judge admitted she and and her husband sometimes joke about their age difference.
She said: ‘He has to read the menu at dinner or I have to take a photo and zoom in if I forget my reading glasses, but we joke about it.’
The gap has benefited Klum in other ways as she admitted the couple enjoy a great sex life.
Discussing her exercise regime, she said: ‘I eat right, I never exercise too much or do heavy weights. People can push themselves too hard.
‘I listen to my body. I have no back or knee pain and I have my husband. [Sex is] very good. My husband is my match,’ she added.
