Nigerian billionaire businessman, Tony Elumelu has pledged to gift $5,000 non-refundable seed capital each to over 1,000 entrepreneurs across the 54 African countries through his foundation as he marks his 61st birthday today.
Tony Elumelu who is an economist, and philanthropist and chairs Heirs Holdings, Transcorp, and United Bank for Africa who was born on this day March 22nd, 1963, taking to his official social media handle to usher in his 61st birthday, made the big announcement, by posting series of photos of some of the past beneficiaries of his kind gesture, with a caption that reads:
“+1 today and no better way to celebrate than announcing the 2024 beneficiaries of the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme.
Over 1,000 young men and women from all 54 African countries who will each receive a non refundable seed capital of $5,000 to help start their own businesses.
This journey began 10 years ago by Awele and I, with a vision to democratize luck and transform lives across Africa.
So, today is about Impact, Reflection and Gratitude,” he said.
