He was crowned on the 28th December 2021, at the ode community square. He is now awaiting formal and official recognition from the Anambra State government.

About The New Atta Okakwu:

Anthony Ochie was born on the 15th of January 1942 at his native town of Odeh, in Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra state, into the family of late Mr Mmadukolu Ochei, who was a successful farmer, and Mrs Mary Obadiegwu Ochie (Nee Egwonwu) a businesswoman from Umuemu, Anam, Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Chief Anthony Ifeanyichukwu Ochei is a devout Christian of the Catholic Church. The height he has attained thus far is evidence of his closeness to his father from childhood, where he was imbued with wisdom, discipline and sagacity uncommon to and beyond his age.

Cheif Anthony Ochei Educational Background:

Chief Anthony Ochei attended Saint John’s Catholic School Illah, Delta state, from 1952-1955 for his primary education. He later proceeded to the famous Holy Trinity School Onitsha, Anambra State in 1955, where he successfully completed his standard school education and obtained his first school leaving certificate after standard six in 1959.

He continued his education pursuit upon ingress into the Teacher’s Training College (TTC) Agulu in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State in 1963, where he had his first three years of teacher’s training until 1965. While at Agulu, young Anthony Ochie was admired and favourites of his teachers, not only for his excellent performance in academics but also for his active participation in extracurricular activities, especially at catechism classes. At this tender stage, his natural intelligence, discipline hard work and interest5 in scholarship were readily spotted.

He gained admission into the Saint Charles Teacher’s Training College Onitsha in 1965. And in 1966, he completed his training just before the outbreak of the Civil war in 1967 which disrupted the course of his further academic pursuit.

Undaunted and determined to move on he took up a teaching appointment with the Eastern Nigeria Government. At the end of the Civil war, Chief Anthony Ochei enrolled for a diploma program in Sale Ship and obtained the national diploma ND in Salesman in 1972. Despite the prevailing challenges at the time, Chief Anthony Ochei’s desire for self-actualisation kept burning as he gained admission in 1996 to the then Anambra State University of Technology (ASUTECH) to study Economics under the innovative mature student program. By dint of hard work, discipline and patience he derived full benefit for all his sacrifices in the program. Now exposed to a deeper academic and intellectual experience he was thus better equipped to pursue the future more confidently.
