Coach Finidi George has met with some members of the Super Eagles players who are already in camp for their lined-up friendly games against Ghana and Mali.
The meeting between the players and interim Finidi George is their first since the AFCON, and since their last Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro resigned from the job at the expiration of his contract.
Super Eagles friendlies against Ghana and Mali will be auditions for Finidi George to stake his claim as the next coach of Nigeria.
The games against Ghana and Mali will be played in Morocco from March 22.
Finidi was an assistant coach under Peseiro and all eyes will be on him to match Peseiro’s achievement or surpass it as he begins his audition with Ghana on March 22, before Mali four days later as they prepare for two important 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa at home and away to Benin in June.
