The General Manager of the Lagos State Triffic Management Authority (LASTMA) Mr Bolaji Oreagba has frowned at the unauthorised use of LASTMA uniform for skits and films.
In a statement released on Friday 11th August 2023, by Adebayo Taofiq the Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment of LASTMA, stated that the agency frowned at the demeaning manner in which movie and skit makers portray the institution in their movies and skits, using LASTMA uniform without recourse to the Section 79 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015 which criminalize such unauthorized use.
“Mr. Oreagba made this known today after seeing a fully kitted actress with Lastma uniform in one of the yoruba film and other skits movies on different social media,” Adebayo Taofiq stated.
According to the statement by Adebayo Taofiq, added that the “film or skit makers who portray as Lasma Officer without applying for, and being duly issued a permit letter for such portrayals, to desist with immediate effect or face the full wrath of the Law,”.
He also believes that such sanity in movies production, regulation of possession and usage of the agency uniform will surely curb proliferation of Lastma kits, uniforms and accoutrements in our society.
“We implore National Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTA) and other affliated bodies to warn their members as anyone caught using the Uniform without an approved permit would be prosecuted”
