Afrobeat Seun Kuti, in the early hours of Monday turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja.
Afrobeat Seun Kuti showed up in the company with his lawyer and a family representative.
The singer has been in the news after he was captured in a video, slapping a policeman in uniform.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed it on his Twitter handle, said Seun is currently being placed under arrest.
Hundeyin said his arrest is in line with the law.
He said the Command appreciated the public for their concern and assured that the ongoing investigation would be detailed, transparent and professionally pursued, adding that justice would be manifestly served for all parties involved.
