Britta Cloetens: Remains of Missing Woman Found

DNA analysis revealed, this Wednesday, that the human bones found near Dinant are indeed those of a young woman Britta Cloetens who disappeared in 2011, AFP reports.

The results of the identification have just revealed that the human bones found by a hunter, in Dinant (Belgium), in December 2022, are indeed those of Britta Cloetens, as announced by the Antwerp prosecutor’s office, this Wednesday, in A press release.

The young woman, Britta Cloetens aged 25 at the time of the events, disappeared on April 23, 2011. Four years later, a man was sentenced to 30 years’ imprisonment before the Antwerp Assize Court for murder, but no never wanted to reveal the place where he had hidden his body, according to AFP.

She refused his advances

The day of her disappearance, the young woman had an appointment in a garage where her murderer worked, as reported by RTL . The man had then made advances to her that Britta had refused. Not supporting this refusal, he had slammed the trunk of his car on her head, killing her instantly.

His murderer then placed his body in the car and took the road towards the Ardennes. This is where he got rid of the body without specifying the exact location. Despite extensive searches throughout the region, the police had to resign themselves to finding Britta’s body.

The case finally took a new turn when, last December, a hunter walking in the forest of Dinant came across a skeleton. After notifying the police, the bones were sent to the victim identification service. DNA tests have thus revealed that it was indeed the body of the young woman and warned her relatives who no longer expected such news.
