A Kebbi boat mishap Tuesday saw at least 15 people die after their boat overturned with rescue workers still searching for the rest, BBC Hausa reports.

According to the report by BBC Hausa, Yahaya Bello Koko, who is the chairman of Koko-Besi Local Government, confirmed the Kebbi boat mishap revealing that rescue workers have found five more bodies since midnight on Thursday.

The boat mishap happened in Samanaji town of Koko-Bese Local Government when it was carrying more than 100 passengers, but most of them were rescued.

The accident happened when the people were returning home from the farm, said Honorable Yahaya.

He said people filled the boat with women and children, which made it split in two in the middle of the water because it was an old boat.

The head of the local government added that more than 80 people were rescued, and 10 bodies were found on Wednesday.
So far, a total of 15 bodies have been found.
