A 27-year-old serial female kidnapper, has been arrested by the Police for allegedly kidnapping a 13-year-old girl in Ogun state, the Police Command in the state said in a statement.
According to the statement released on Wednesday 21st December 2022, by the Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspected 27-year-old serial female kidnapper identified as one Mariam Ayila, was on Tuesday 20th December 2022, arrested by men of Ogun police command, for kidnapping a 13yrs old girl, who was also identified as Sofiat Yusau while on her way to the popular Agbara market.
SP Abimbola Oyeyemi stated in the released statement, that the successful arrest of the 27-year-old suspected female kidnapper, was made possible following a report lodged at Agbara divisional headquarters by one Ismail Yusau, who reported that, he sent his daughter on an errand to Agbara market at about 11 am of the day, only to receive a strange call some hours after from an unknown person, who informed him that his daughter has been kidnapped and that if he didn’t send the sum of #250,000 as ransome, he will never set his eyes on the girl again.
SP Abimbola Oyeyemi stating further added that upon the report, the DPO Agbara division, CSP Abiodun Salau, mobilized his Crack Detectives, who embarked on a technical and intelligence-based investigation.
“Their efforts yielded positive results when the suspect was traced to her hideout at Atan ota area, where she was promptly arrested and the little girl was rescued unhurt,” the Ogun State Police Command PRO stated.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had earlier kidnapped a young girl at Itele ota area the 19th of December 2022, and ransom was paid to her before she released her victim.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole had directed the suspect to be handed over to the Anti kidnapping section of the criminal investigation Department for further investigation and further investigation.
