Singer Iyanya Says He Begged To Perform At Shows

Singer Iyanya has admitted that he begged to perform at shows last year, and now he is feeling grateful and happy for how things have changed for him this year. He said this after booking more shows this December than last year December 2021 where he was begging to perform.

The 36-year-old Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk who has struggled to make it back into the Nigerian music scene after a long break with alleged legal tussle with former business partner and label mate, and other personal issues, took to his official Twitter handle on Wednesday to express his gratitude to God on how things have turned around for good.

In a series of tweets, the Kukere crooner recounted how he performed at three shows in December 2021 and got paid for only one.

Singer Iyanya added that in December 2022, the story changed, as he had over 20 shows where he was paid to perform.

Stating that he hadn’t had such a busy December since 2017, the talent show star expressed gratitude to God for the turnaround.

He tweeted, “Last December 2021, I performed at 3 shows. One paid, and I begged to perform at two just to be seen.

“In 2022 December, I wake up every day to alerts for shows. I haven’t had this kind of busy December since 2017. 20+ shows in one month. God, thank you.”

Singer Iyanya also appreciated his fans for streaming his songs, as he promised that 2023 would be a better year for them.

“And to my fans and everyone who streamed my music this year, God bless you. There’s got to be more, and I promise 2023 will be a better year for everyone who has supported me this year. We will definitely have a great 2023,” he tweeted.

Iyanya rose to stardom in 2008 after winning the first edition of the MTN Project Fame singing talent show.
