Bernard Arnault, the chief executive of luxury brand Louis Vuitton’s parent company LVMH (LVMH.PA), and his family briefly took the title as the world’s richest, but were back at No. 2 with a personal wealth of $185.3 billion, according to Forbes.

According to the Forbes ranking, the CEO of LVMH passed Elon Musk with a fortune estimated at more than 185 billion dollars. The boss of Tesla has since become number 1 again, in this ranking updated in real-time.

Bernard Arnault dethrones Elon Musk. According to the real-time ranking established by Forbes magazine, the CEO of the LVMH group again became this Wednesday the richest personality in the world with a fortune estimated at 5:55 p.m. at 185.1 billion dollars. The eccentric boss of SpaceX and Tesla slipped to the second step of the podium (184.7 billion dollars) ahead of the Indian industrialist Gautam Adani , founder of the Adani conglomerate (134.8 billion dollars).

This place of number 1 was however once again ephemeral for Bernard Arnault: at 6:54 p.m., Elon Musk was again the richest man in the world, at 184.9 billion dollars against 184.7 billion dollars for Bernard Arnault .

Elon Musk’s fortune is crumbling

Bernard Arnault took advantage this Wednesday of the setbacks of Elon Musk who has seen his fortune melt since his arrival at the head of Twitter, which he bought for 44 billion dollars at the end of October.

According to Reuters, Tesla shares have notably lost more than 47% since the billionaire presented his purchase offer, investors fearing that the latter will be too busy with his new functions within the social network, to the detriment of the automaker. .

Note that Forbes takes into account the fortune of Bernard Arnault “and his family”. Bloomberg – which adopts a different methodology to establish its own ranking of the world’s largest fortunes – still placed the boss of LVMH in second place on Wednesday with a fortune of 165 billion dollars, against 179 for Elon Musk.
