A building has collapsed in Lagos state, killing about four people and unidentified number injured on Saturday morning, the Lagos State Emergency Rescue Team had reported.
The ageing building sited at 48 Orisha Water Front, Otun Araromi Street Magodo Phase 1 Lagos State, is unclear whether or not it was marked for demolition by the Lagos State Government, given recent disasters in the state. The picture show that the structure is an old structure, and the heavy and non-stop downpour in Lagos might have contributed to the collapse of the already weak structure.
The Lagos State Government which broke the news on their social media page, did not give full details as to those killed in the collapsed structure, as the photo shared on their official social media showed the front section of the structure gave way and fell during the heavy downpour in Lagos. The statement released by the officials of the Lagos State Government reads:
“A building collapsed at 48, Orisha Water Front, Otun Araromi Street, Magodo Phase 1. The collapsed building claimed four lives. The timely response of the LASG Rescue Team prevented further loss of lives” #lagos
