Former Miss Ukraine Julia has joined her family and others to help those running away from the Russian bombardment of her country, to safety at the border of the country, AFP revealed.
According to the report, the former Miss Ukraine Julia could have led a comfortable life and stayed safe abroad. But this former Miss Ukraine has decided otherwise. Since the beginning of the war in her country, the young woman has helped every day to evacuate many children from the east of the territory. Ambassador of Unices, she also created her foundation.
With a smile on her lips, dressed in a coat in the colours of the Ukrainian flag, Julia accompanies, this Tuesday, 49 children who have arrived at the Polish border and who are going to join Turin. Some of them are even in a hurry to discover the Italian city. “My brother told me that we can eat pizza,” says a little girl.
“I’m really happy that they got to the border. It was a very long journey,” says Julia.
“I couldn’t sit idly by”
Former Miss Ukraine Julia was crowned Miss Ukraine International in 2012 then Top Model of the World and Mrs Universe in 2018. Far from the catwalks and the spotlight today, the young woman believes that her place is here, at the border, to help her country, like his family, who remained in Ukraine.
“My dad and my brother are fighting for our land. Mum is a doctor and tends to the injured. I couldn’t just sit back and do nothing. Now I realize that my titles aren’t just happy times, c is also a responsibility”, assures Julia.
Faced with the violence and injustice she faces every day, Julia says she regularly breaks down. While accompanying the mother of a baby just ten days old who had just fled the hell of Mariupol , Julia recounts a conversation that upset her.
“She got a phone call from her husband. He said to her, ‘my dear wife, I won’t be able to come back soon. All my bosses have been killed, there are not enough of us, I don’t think we will make it. ‘”, explains the moved young woman.
