President Volodymyr Zelensky Of Ukraine is calling on Western countries to place an embargo on Russian oil as the Russian-Ukraine war enters day 34 on Tuesday.
Volodymyr Zelensky Of Ukraine in a video posted on social networks on Monday, called on the West to strengthen economic sanctions against Moscow.
“Doesn’t everything the Russian army has done deserves an oil embargo?” This is the question posed by Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine. In a video released on Monday, the Ukrainian president calls on Western countries to sanction Moscow again by imposing an oil embargo, more than a month after the start of the war.
“Doesn’t the use of phosphorus bombs deserve this? Doesn’t the bombing of a nuclear power plant deserve this?”
“If the sanctions are weak or not effective enough, if they can be circumvented, it creates a dangerous illusion for the Russian leadership, [because they will be able] to continue doing what they are doing. And the Ukrainians are paying for it with their life”, assures Volodymyr Zelensky.
A few days ago, the Kremlin spokesman warned the West : an embargo on Russian oil would have “a very serious influence on the world oil market, a harmful influence on the energy market in Europe”.
“Our goal is for the sanctions to work as intended”
This Monday, the Ukrainian president also announced the creation of a group of experts to analyze the sanctions against Russia.
“We are in the process of creating a group of Ukrainian and international experts in the president’s office, who will constantly analyze the sanctions against Russia. [We will determine] what their real influence is. Our goal is for the sanctions to work as intended. And that there is no possibility of circumventing them.”
