Yvan Colonna’s attacker Franck Elong Abe, was on Sunday indicted for attempted terrorist assassination in France, AFP reports.
According to the report, Yvan Colonna’s attacker was indicted for “attempted assassination in connection with a terrorist enterprise” by investigating judges at the Paris court on Sunday, a judicial source said.
The individual physically attacked the Corsican independence activist in detention this week.
The report also stated that the attack which left Yvan Colonna, 61, in a coma, was carried out by one Franck Elong Abe, a 35-year-old man who was sentenced in 2010 for the assassination of the prefect Erignac.
Franck Elong Abe was already serving several sentences in Arles prison, and was remanded in custody as part of this judicial investigation also opened for “terrorist criminal association”.
