Kevin Durant has given an update to the injury he suffered during the game 5 of the NBA finals series against Toronto Raptors, as he shares a photo from his hospital bed thanking fans for their love and messages, telling them his surgery went well as expected.

Kevin Durant who had made a comeback in game 5 of the finals to help his team the Golden State Warriors who were already 3-1 down, injured his Achilles tendon and was helped out of the court, as his attempt to make a quick return was short-lived.

Taking to his Instagram page on Wednesday, which was a few hours ago, Kevin Durant shared a photo of himself in a hospital bed shortly after his surgery to give fans the latest update on his injury. He said:

“What’s good everybody I wanted to update you all: I did rupture my Achilles. Surgery was today and it was a success, EASY MONEY

My road back starts now! I got my family and my loved ones by my side and we truly appreciate all the messages and support people have sent our way.

Like I said Monday, I’m hurting deeply, but I’m OK. Basketball is my biggest love and I wanted to be out there that night because that’s what I do. I wanted to help my teammates on our quest for the three peat.

Its just the way things go in this game and I’m proud that I gave it all I physically could, and I’m proud my brothers got the W.

It’s going to be a journey but I’m built for this. I’m a hooper

I know my brothers can get this Game 6, and I will be cheering  with dub nation while they do it.” he said

Prior to suffering the injury, Durant ended up scoring 11 points on 3-of-5 from the field and recorded a block for Golden State. Durant also connected on all three of his attempts from beyond the arc in the opening 12 minutes.

He was later helped to the locker room by his teammates.
