Drake and Alphonso Davies have finally met, after the rapper asked for a meet with the Bayern Munich star and other of his teammates, after his wonderful solo goal for Canada during Wednesday’s FIFA World Cup qualifying game.

The win which pushes Canada close to qualifying for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar next year, saw millions of football fans mostly from Canada, buzzing for Alphonso Davies’s goal. The 20-year-old delivered a spectacular goal late in the first half, tying the match against Panama and ultimately pushing Canada towards an eventual 4-1 victory.

Drake and Alphonso then trigged a meeting after the game. But it was the rapper who suggested the meeting to celebrate the Bayern star and the national team for their efforts.

Drake before asking for a meet, sent a congratulatory text message, which was revealed by the Canadian coach, Herdman. He had said he just got a text from Drake and he wants to meet the boys.

Coach John Herdman, head of the Canadian men’s national soccer team, told reporters during a press conference after the game that Davies “just got a text from Drake.”

Not only did Davies get props from Drake, he got an invitation: “He wants to meet the boys,” said Herdman of the chart-topping recording artist and avid sports fan.

The photo of Drake Alphonso Davies a few hours later, was shared on Instagram, with Drake holding up a signed Jersey from Davies.

How the Drake And Aphoson Davies Meet First Started?

Drake had texted Alphonso Davies to set up a meeting after the Bayern Munich star’s stunning solo goal for Canada against Panama on Wednesday.

Davies sprinted half the length of the field to steal the ball from an unsuspecting Sam Adekugbe before jetting into the box and leaving goalkeeper Luis Mejia flat-footed with his low shot.

The 66th-minute effort put Canada ahead 2-1 in a pivotal World Cup qualifying match, with the hosts ultimately pulling away for a 4-1 victory.

Drake apparently came away impressed by the skill of his countryman, and Canada head coach John Herman relayed the details of their conversation afterwards.
