South-West Leaders of the ruling party of the All Progressives Congress (APC) mostly from Lagos State, on Sunday, welcomed the National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu back from London.
The gathering by the South-West leaders of APC to welcomed Bola Tinubu back to the country after being away for months on a medical trip abroad, was organised by Governor Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State.
The event that was tagged: “Welcome Back Home Asiwaju” saw the likes of Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, Senators, and other bigwigs of the South-West leaders of the APC in attendance.
Those in attendance were: Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Folasade Jaji, Chief of Staff, Tayo Ayinde and other members of the State Executive Council, members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, members of the House of Representatives, party chieftains, clergymen, Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) and all Council Chairmen, market leaders, among others.
According to Gov. Sanwo-Olu, the welcome-back event by the South-West APC leaders, was also used to pray, praise, and thanksgiving filled sessions for the National Leader and Father figure of the party.
“We thank God for bringing Asiwaju back with sound health, stronger vigour, and a renewed zeal and hope for the future,”
The intention of evil-minded people who spread malicious rumour against our leader did not materialise”.the governor said.
Recall that Tinubu, on Friday night, returned to the country, after a successful surgery operation on his right knee as well as rigorous post-surgery physiotherapy.
The arrival came barely 24 hours after a campaign group, South-West Agenda (SWAGA 2023), was flagged off in Lagos by the state Governor, Bababjide Sanwo-Olu to champion Tinubu’s presidential ambition ahead of the 2023 general poll.
Tinubu while speaking at the event, stated that only God can take his life, saying:
“I’m a little emotional now but I’m happy. God is the Giver of life and the only One who can take life. And He (God) says; if I grant you power and the privilege in this life; I am the only One who can take it from you if you don’t use it in the way and manner that promotes humanity. God can give power to anyone he wills.
“It is the same God that has spared us till today and has given us the privilege. I give glory to God, because I’m standing before you hale, hearty and well. Today is a day of joy for me, having fixed today for this great event. We are here giving praises to God. May God bless all of you in attendance. I am grateful. I cannot say more than that today. Thank you all,” Tinubu announced to his political protégés at the event.
