Ganduje's Wife Was Never Arrested Or Detained- Govt.

Kano State Government has dispelled the rumour going around that Ganduje’s wife, Mrs Hafsat Ganduj was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), saying the rumours are being peddled by mischief-makers.

The Kano State Government while reacting to the reports on Governor Ganduje’s wife alleged arrest, in a statement released on Tuesday 5th October 2021, by the commissioner for information, Malam Muhammad Garba expressed regrets that the content of the unfounded story could not be attributed to any credible source such as the purported arresting agency, the EFCC.

He pointed out that most, unfortunately, the fake story is being peddled on social media platforms without confirmation from either the government or the EFCC.

Malam Garba said the Ganduje’s wife has not been arrested or detained and she is presently discharging her responsibilities

The commissioner called on the good people of Kano state to disregard the rumour and also remain calm.

What Was Reported And Said About The Alleged Arrest Of Ganduje’s Wife By EFCC?

Media reports on Monday, reported that EFCC allegedly arrested Hafsat on the strength of a petition against her by her son, Abdualzeez Ganduje.

Reports alleged that Mrs Ganduje had failed to honour the anti-graft commission’s invitation to appear at its Abuja headquarters on September 13, prompting investigators to move in on her, to effect her arrest on Monday.

However, a report issued by the Guardian revealed that the governor’s wife was granted a temporary reprieve due to the influence of her husband.

She was alleged to have been drilled over the alleged illegal hijack of landed property worth billions of naira.

Governor Ganduje, who accompanied his wife to the EFCC headquarters, was said to have influenced her eventual release.
