Singer Aituaje Iruobe who is better known in the Nigerian music industry as Waje, has finally bid a final farewell to her late father, whose death she announced a few weeks back.

The singer who did not say when and where her late father’s body was buried, on Tuesday 7th September 2021, took to her social media handle to post some photos from the burial ceremony which was also attended by her friends and some of her colleagues in the entertainment industry.

In one of the photos, the singer was photographed with her family members standing next to the coffin containing the remains of their late father before it was lowered to the ground. In another of the photos shared, she could be seen with her friends all in matching attire and being consoled as she looks on with tears while the coffin is being lowered.

The music star who celebrated her 41st birthday a few days ago, had announced the sad news of the passing of her father via her Instagram page on Tuesday, August 10, 2021.

She had posted this message saying:

“A girl needs a father. A girl needs her father. This girl will always love her father. This girl will dearly miss her father. Rest well daddy you will always be in our hearts!” she had said.

Who was Waje’s Father And What She Said About Him And Her Mother?

Not much is known about her father, as she mostly share photos or messages about her mother and sometimes her daughter on her official social media and little or nothing on her father. She is also very private about her family.

Waje’s dad is from Edo, while the mum hails from Onitsha, Anambra State.

In one of her Instagram live chats with Bouqui, the singer opened up on a part of a childhood people hardly know about. The singer whose father divorced her mother when she was still a little girl, said her father didn’t really get married to her mother.

Speaking to Bouqui, she said: “I won’t tell you I had a fun childhood, I would tell you that. Because of the kind of person my mom is, I grew up in an environment where my immediate family and extended family were very close.

I was born in Ogun State at that time, my mother was working in Akure.

My parents never really got married, but they were together for a while. For some reason, I don’t really know why my father never really married her. They were basically living together and he would say we would go and see your people this year and he just kept saying it until he had all of us”.

Speaking further, the award winning vocalist added that her father’s parents didn’t really support the union between his parents.

“He came from a family where she wasn’t really welcomed especially by my father’s mom. They had left that stage of ‘we are going to see your family’ to fighting a lot. I cannot tell you I remember fun memories of both of them. The memories I remember are that of my mom taking us to the cinema.

I think that’s when I started realizing that I had a gift, not necessarily a gift then. But I realized I loved music. Though I have mended my relationship with my dad, as at then, If my memory serves me right, he wasn’t exactly an honest man. Because of that, we used to have very weird visitors. Like people, he has duped or business has gone bad”, she said.
