Super Eagles’ captain Musa is to be gifted with the sum of N10million naira by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), for reaching 100 national team caps for the Super Eagles.

The N10million naira cash prize was announced by the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, immediately after the game between Cape Verde and Nigeria on Tuesday.

Musa made his 100th appearance for the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Tuesday, in that game that saw Nigeria defeating the host Cape Verde 1-2 to top Group C of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Also, Amaju Pinnick in making the promise to Ahmed Musa, said from now on, any of the Super Eagles players who reach a 100 cap for the Super Eagles, will be given the sum of N10million naira cash prize, and they are starting this with Ahmed Musa.

Amaju Pinnick while also reacting to the victory away from home by the Super Eagles, said the win shows that there is no such thing as Super Eagles team A or B or C. He also praised the players for their gallant displays and for going for all three points in a hostile environment.

Eagles’ captain Musa who made the starting line-up in the selection made by coach Gernot Rohr in the Nigeria Versus Cape Verde game on Tuesday, joined the elite team of those who have put in a century of caps for the Super Eagles.

The former Kano Pillars and Leicester City forward whose name Nigerians will never forget in a hurry, given his outstanding performance at the last FIFA world cup, a few days ago, made a public post thanking God, fans and teammates for everything.

“I can’t keep calm as we keep winning. Thanks to my family, my teammates, fans and not forgetting the NFF. I want to specially mention it’s my 100th cap for the team as well. It’s an absolute honour & privilege to serve in this capacity. All of these wouldn’t have been possible without you guys as there is no ‘I’ in the team.

You guys rock. Thanks so much once again. Here’s to more wins,” he added.

The message from Eagles’ captain Musa comes after Nigeria defeated Cape Verde 1-2 in their second game in the ongoing FIFA 2022 World cup qualifiers, to record their second win in two matches so far.

The game which took place in Cape Verde on Tuesday 7th September 2021, saw the host going ahead in the 19th minutes after a goal from Dylan Taveres. The Super Eagles of Nigeria however managed to equal the score before the half-time break, courtesy of Victor Osimhen in the 29th minute.

The game was a good challenge for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, which lined up players who played their professional football game outside of the United Kingdom. The winning goal for the Super Eagles of Nigeria came in the second half, and it was an own goal scored by Kenny Rochas Santos in the 76th minutes.

The win sees Nigeria going top of Group C with six points in two games, while Liberia is second with three points, with Cape Verde and the Central Africa Republic with one point each.

The Nigeria Vs Cape Verde line-up comprises mostly the names of players who are not based in the United Kingdom, due to the coronavirus red-zone restrictions.

The teamsheet for today’s game as released by the Nigeria Football Federation on Tuesday 7th September 2021, shows the following:
Ozor Nwafor
Also, the win by the Super Eagles of Nigeria which is coming a few days after they triumphed over Liberia in their first game in Lagos, means that they are now N20million naira richer.
This is so because the Eagles were promised the sum of N20million if they win the match, by the Chairman of Air Peace airline, Barrister Allen Onyema whose company is the official sponsor of the Nigeria National football teams.
